HomeAlso, having it come out around Christmas 2015 means they can start selling crap for the season. People are buying now out of anticipation, and while I think merch sales would be high in the summer, it's even more so now because of A. buying presents and b. holiday tie-ins (I saw an R2 ornament at kohls, with reindeer antlers.)

I'm not gonna google it, but didn't one (at least one) of the original trilogy come out around Christmas? Maybe they are mirroring that.

I remember taking my wife and kid to see Prince of Egypt on Christmas Day. Seemed like more of a Passover movie, but there it was.
