I kind of understand, although I cannot sympathize.
You have someone who thinks of himself as an accomplished artist. Someone with a Vision, dammit, who doesn't want to spend days-weeks-months aping someone else's art style. He thinks HIS ideas are just as valid as anyone else's and convinces his higher-ups to greenlight the deal.
And why SHOULDN't Scooby and Shaggy now be high-tech hipster ghostbusters?
And if we didn't tack all of this on to a familiar character set, no one would buy it, right?
So no. I'm not partial to this.
