For example-- Customers who are leasing phones *might* be eligible to trade those phones in and upgrade.  Since CPMCI owns the phones we have to get an approval and ship those phones back to CPMCI.

All through December I have having a weekly fight with the woman who is in charge of submitting the information for these shipments.  I would submit 6 devices that needed to be shipped. She'd send me an approval for 3 of them.  "The others require manual approval..."  Some of these phones sat in my locked drawer for a month or longer.

Now is January and the same woman sends an email "Your store has un-shipped giveback phones.  Please send them NOW or risk being charged for them..."

Dammit.  It's you who didn't do your job. Now you're threatening me as if it was my fault.

    Cut her brake lines.

I think you've landed on a great board game premise. You draw a card and put in play and it's something like "Is a rude customer at the bagel shop". Whoever you play it against now has to try and cut your brake line without being noticed. If they succeed, they have to play a dick move card, and the person they play it against tries to cut their brake line. You have to answer trivia question to earn "check your brake line" cards, otherwise you're driving without knowing the danger. Dice rolls determine if you live or not. The last person with uncut brake lines , or the last person alive wins the game.

so a modified version of Monopoly, then.

    It begins...

That laptop computer I spoke about. It was delivered to me tonight at around 7:30 PM. I now have a work laptop (and carry bag) that I was asked to bring with me to work and take home with me when I go home at night.

I have no idea why. I had asked for a laptop to replace a failing PC at my manager's desk. The idea was to be able to use it as an extra POS station during busy Christmas rush periods. They replaced the failing PC AND sent the laptop.

As I said to Arkay I am a little anxious about why I suddenly merit a work laptop PC.

I'm sure it's nothing, but if there are developments, I'll report them.

I'd basically pick up with Jar Jar going to Padme's funeral, and having his soul crushed by the realization that he's one of the key figures responsible for the end of the Republic and the rise of the Empire. It'd be a soul searing exploration of how the search for atonement can lead to greater suffering and tragedy. I'd even throw in a crippled, brain damaged guy that Jar Jar tries to help in a hospice. The dude tells him about how his life as a drug dealer was up ended when a bearded man in robes talked him into going home and rethinking his life. When he decided to quite the life, his associates beat him savagely, and ever since he's been in constant pain and begging anyone who'll listen to kill him and put him out of his misery.

The first act would culminate with Jar Jar cutting out his tongue or at least severing his vocal chords as an act of penance for speaking words that led to the Emperor's rise to power. The second act would would be his his further suffering at seeing Storm Troopers clear planets of "undesirables" i.e. non-humans and being unable to cry out against the injustice. Third act would be Jar Jar finding some kind of purpose in the galaxy that will never balance out the harm he did, but is still good none the less.

and somewhere in the third act you need a musical training montage.

I saw that, and got the impression that the response to Gallen's comment about offering him a damp hug was from an actual developer who was slagging his pithy comment, which I love. I also added my pair've pennies on the matter. In essence, if you're pissed about how lame games are today, go fucking make one that's awesome. It's easier to do now than it's ever been, and the barrier to entry is no longer a function of price so much as of will power.

    3. I'm a bit feverish and I'm not going to check it, but I think Gallen made a fair point about the use of jokes/slap stick humor to ease dramatic tension.  The reason we love C3PO is because he's interspersed between serious scenes (trash compactor for instance).  Jar Jar was swinging around on tanks like a moron in the middle of a climactic battle scene.  It was badly written copies of the Three Stooges humor, if there was less of it sprinkled throughout and just a touch better written it probably wouldn't have been so badly recieved.  I think RK made the point...again, I'm feverish and struck with flu.

Oh, I don't argue that the humor is there to ease tension.  It works with C3PO and R2D2, and with Finn and BB8, and it fails with Jar Jar.  My issue is more the way he talks about it...he doesn't seem to be agreeing or disagreeing with someone's point, he just wants to prove that he knows something, even if only slightly related to the point he's responding to.  And then if you don't respond to his knowledge, he has to post it again.

You are not having a discussion with him. It's him spouting facts and trying to be superior and letting you know how dumb you are on whatever subject happens to be being discussed and that is thing that pisses me off the most. Especially if it's a topic he knows nothing about, he'll post some random MS3K link or whatever or try to steer the topic into a subject that allows him to once again type paragraphs and paragraphs of useless boring shit. I can tolerate most of it, but the thing that pisses me off the most is that while TR was still around he didn't want to have anything to do with our facebook group.
