Re: boo to you.
This new hire will NEVER finish his training. I feel bad for older people who are not computer literate, but damn. Even the paperwork which is handwritten on actual paper, he took forever and barely filled out correctly. He locked himself out of his employee portal, we requested a reset and the email never came in. I called-he misspelled his email address when he put it in. And I figured out he was typing the wrong password-you have to include special characters, so he was using a "$" instead of an "s" but he was typing s$ instead of $. He's been at this since 10:30 and hasn't finished one training yet.

Re: boo to you.
The semester officially starts today. I think I'm done with the "easy" stuff, based on the syllabuses I looked at. Also, I'm taking 2 classes this semester, and hopefully the remaining semesters, so I can get done sooner. If I double-up from now on, my last semester will be spring 2017, so just a little over a year.

I'm rarely get to check in on the weekend, but it's almost as dead during the week. With just 4 or 5 of us around and varied schedules, it's hard to have much conversation. I was thinking about doing some writing and posting them in one of the sections, just for fun. I'll stick around until I'm the only one showing up.
I'll still be a regular. Almost all the people I care about I am mainly connected to by the Internet. So having multiple ways to reach out to you all is a good thing. Also this little semi private thing is a place where any of us can feel safe bitching or venting about things that piss us off.
Yea, I definitely post more personal stuff here than I would on the FB Haunt, because I'm friends with you guys. The people on the Haunt I'm friendly with, and I wouldn't want to share some of this with them.

Re: boo to you.
I have a small work rant. A few years ago, when we were in the recession that Gov. Rick Perry claims we were not in, state agencies were cutting jobs and cutting funding. In an effort to "save" money, my unit and the unit in Amarillo, which share a resident director, combined some job duties. The thinking was, they would only have to pay to train one person on HR and payroll, one person on purchasing, etc. Of course, the Amarillo unit took all those functions because they were bigger, and my boss who was happy to give up the job duties because he didn't really want to do them, didn't fight for anything. We still have things to do here, and I do things for Amarillo, but the "big" duties, the time consuming duties, the really important duties are in Amarillo. Fine, whatever. The problem is, we hire new employees who are told they have to be here at 8 a.m. to begin paperwork and training. However, beyond paperwork and me giving them a tour, we can't do anything until they receive their employee id-they can't log into the training system, to take their multitudes of required training, which is all required before they can begin working at the job they were hired to do. And only the official HR rep can request the id (and only the official hire date), and that person is in Amarillo. She is the counterpart to my boss. That person also doesn't come to work until...whenever the hell she feels like it. NEVER at 8 a.m. I have a new hire today. It is now 8:52 a.m. That person is still not at work. This pisses me off. Even if you feel like you can stroll in at whatever time you want, maybe make an effort to be on time on the days when new hires show up? It's not that often, surely you can be on time one day every few months.
Damn, this pisses me off. Nice way to start the week.

In other news, Gonzo had a health scare this morning when he woke up and his mouth was bleeding and he didn't know why and couldn't get it to stop. We were all super concerned especially because he put a picture of the bloody spittle in his bathroom sink on the Facebook...
Long story short he went to the emergency room probably convinced he had the cancer or something. It turned out to be a bad tooth which is not as terrible as I was afraid it was.
He's got to see an oral surgeon now to get the thing sorted out.
If you hear from Ozne, please wish him well.

Re: boo to you.
I don't recall if I mentioned it the other day, but on Halloween Night I spent WAY too much on candy for a dark, rainy night as a guy living in a neighborhood just on the edge of where trick or treaters go and who isn't getting home til 7pm (it's been getting dark by 5 or so round here lately). I got one set the whole night. Two kids dressed as zombies that looked late middle school early highschool ager. So I gave 'em two bags (skittles and reeses) to split. Brightened up their night I think.
Also, my boss had me work from 11 to 2, then after a break work again from 3 to 6. I asked him yesterday, if I could make that my standard weekend hours, and push clockout time to 6:30. He said okay. So that's an extra hour and a half two days a week, which covers 3 of the 3.5 hours I've lost from the Thursday shifts.

I want you to go to the Pinball Hall of Fame and draw some pictures of aliens walking around the place.
Or, as an alternative, go to Circus Circus and see if they have any postcards with pictures of the place. While you're there, check out their show. Clown and Acrobats and all sort's've crazy crap.

Yeah you can, but you are drinking alone at the slots. You are having a party at the tables.
I'm an introvert. I like doing things on my own more than being an awkward member of a group. And I like the slots machines with a tie-in to a movie or show I already like. I had a lot of fun playing the Ghostbusters and the Godzilla slots in Durant. And my process is the same. I play. I hit a twenty dollar bonus. I cash out and go find something else to play. I never sit long enough that the machine takes back my profit.

It's all hit miss and random anyway. The fun thing about the table is the crowd. You will see all types. Last time I went through Shreveport for work, there was some braggart that worked at the casino. He was off telling some girls how to play. He kept winning over and over and they were very impressed. I was watching him bet and he was covering 90% of the field. Sure he was going to win, but he wasn't recouping his bet. He eventually tapped out and made some excuse as to why his system had failed.
I got hot once at a casino in Kansas City and everyone was following my bet. While I was betting little amounts, others were betting big with me. No free drinks there, so everyone was buying me rounds. I stepped away from the table to go to the bathroom and when I came back they kicked me out. I made a few hundred but I guess others made a lot more. Only time I was ever tossed out of a casino, but it was a hell of good time.
I'll add this edit. You will eventually lose if you play long enough. So walk away if you are up. You can always come back and buy in for less. I usually buy in for $40 at a $5 table. If I get to the point that they are paying me in casino chips I pocket them and will walk away before I pull them out. If I'm back and forth I'll sit there until I get up around 100 or bust. The only time it really bites me is when I win big early. I hit 4 spins in a row at Shreveport and was up 300. I stuck around because I just got there and gave it all back.

I want you to go to a roulette wheel (or one of the electronic ones) with 20 bucks. Tell them you want singles. put all 20 straight up on 20 different numbers. Make sure 0 or 00 gets covered. Your getting about 66% odds. If you hit you will get 35 bucks. If you don't you will have only lost 20. My boss and I have do this regularly. I hit 11 spins in a row before. We actually varied our bets between 20 and 22 for better odds.
So much more fun than slots.

My plan is to get you hooked so you can score free drinks all night. Plus the action at a packed table is a rush.
