I'm home from work on Friday night after leaving a little early because it was slow at work and I didn't feel quite right. Now I'm feeling a little less queasy (no-- I'm not pregnant) and I am ready to tell about my trip to Stephenville to shoot all the guns with Friend Patch.
I had a couple of projects to work on in the morning. Laundry and an eye exam for new glasses to be precise, and every task was...complicated. First, the Happy Joy laundry was closed because they are moving to smaller space in the same shopping center. (Boo!) I actually knew this was happening, but brought my clothes just in case and ended up buying quarters at Kroger and going back to my apartment to wash. That was mistake number one.
The apartment laundry has the iffiest machines I've ever encountered and the dryer that tumbled my pants and work shirts did not heat up and left them a damp mess. I had no desire to waste more quarters so I hung them up semi-wet and went on with my life.
The eye exam-- also a mess. The first place I went could not work me in until 5:00 PM. The second place was staffed by a sort of surly receptionist who took my insurance card and later informed me that I am not covered for optical. Like Hell I am not. Turns out I opted for optical AND dental coverage but either my HR department or the insurance company screwed up the coverage. Even today I have no idea if they're going to honor the coverage choice I opted for.
to be continued...
Harsh stuff man. Hope your weekend is better.
It was just minor annoyance, and the story leads to me shooting guns.
About ten to one, Patch called me and the trip to Stephenville was on. I had just bought a new monochrome printer/flatbed scanner, so I dropped it off at the apartment. Then I grabbed a burger and fries from McDonalds and hit the road. Patch's address in Stephenville supposedly needs an hour and a half driving. Oddly enough, Google maps told me that Patch lived in a town called Hico instead of Stephenville.
I drove. At the point when I arrived at Stephenville I hit an area of road work. Maps told me I was about 20 minutes from the place I was heading. The road work made that twenty minutes more like thirty, and I drove through Hico, which seems like a charming small town, and arrived at a very rundown neighborhood I could not imagine Patch living at.
A text and phone call later I found out that the road construction place was about five minutes from the real address...
SO it was about 4:00 PM when I finally hit Casa De Patch.
More later...
